Germany have claimed the first semi-final spot at Euro 2008 after beating Portugal 3-2 in their quarter-final clash last night.
The Germans dominated the opening period of the game and were 2-0 up midway through the first half thanks to goals from Bastian Schweinsteiger Miroslav Klose.
Nuno Gomes pulled one back for Portugal before the break, but Michael Ballack restored Germany's two-goal cushion in the second half.
Portugal stepped up their attack in the latter stages and substitute Helder Postiga managed to find the back of the net with just minutes left to play.
However, Germany held on for victory and will now go on to face either Croatia or Turkey, who meet in the second quarter-final tonight.
