Co-host Switzerland has earned its first ever win at a European Championship football tournament with a 2-0 win over Portugal.

Hakan Yakin scored twice Sunday in Basel to give Switzerland the victory in its last game of the tournament.  Portugal had already qualified for the quarterfinals as the Group A winner.
   
Portugal was runner-up four years ago and reached the final four of the 2006 World Cup in Germany.  The team will play either co-host Austria, Germany or Poland in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

In Geneva, Turkey made an improbable comeback to beat the Czech Republic, 3-2, and reach the quarterfinals.  The Czechs jumped to a 2-0 lead.  But Nihat Kahveci scored two goals in the 87th and 89th minutes to seal the win.
