Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal has tipped Spain to win Euro 2008, saying that they have more chance of triumphing than he does of winning Wimbledon.
Nadal is one of the true superstars of the game of tennis, and last week won a fourth successive French Open, demolishing World Number One Roger Federer in the final 6-1, 6-3, 6-0.
Today the Spaniard was playing in the Stella Artois at Queen’s Club in London, where he defeated Jonas Bjorkman in the second round.
In a post-match interview with the BBC, Nadal, who is a big football fan, was asked about Spain’s chances of winning Euro 2008.
“They look very good. Amazing,” he enthused, before being questioned whether he had more chance of winning Wimbledon than Spain do the Euros.
“The Spanish team have more chance of winning,” he concluded.
Spain got their Euro 2008 campaign off to the perfect start last night as David Villa hit a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Russia in Group D.
