With every ticket sold and five million visitors expected, Euro 2008 organisers said on Sunday they were confident of maintaining a party mood even if co-hosts Austria and Switzerland were to go out early.

"It's true that the success of the home teams have contributed to the overall euphoria in previous tournaments but we are not afraid of the atmosphere here," tournament chief operating officer Martin Kallen said at a media briefing.

"Both countries have a large population of people from abroad. There are lots of fans in Austria and Switzerland from Croatia and Germany, and fair numbers from Spain and Portugal.

"I'm sure the atmosphere will be good even if the home teams don't make it all the way to the end."

Both the co-hosts face tough tasks in just making it through to the quarter-finals. Switzerland are in Group A with the Czech Republic, Portugal and Turkey, while Austria are in Group B with Germany, Poland and Croatia.

Kallen confirmed that every regular ticket for the 31 games from June 7-29 had been sold for some time, with just a few VIP packages still available for the latter stages.

With less than a week to go, the 450 Euro 2008 staff and 5,000 volunteers are putting the finishing touches to the stadiums and fan zones in preparation for a massive influx.

"We're expecting five million visitors and spectators in Austria and Switzerland and that's a challenge," Kallen said. "We'll see if our projections are accurate."
