Michael Ballack scored on a swerving free kick in the 82nd minute to rally Germany at home to a 2-1 victory over Serbia on Saturday in a tuneup for Euro 2008. Portugal and Romania enjoyed easy triumphs.

Portugal beat Georgia 2-0 in Viseu on Saturday although Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score, and Romania outplayed Montenegro 4-0, with Nicolae Dica scoring twice.

The European Championship in Austria and Switzerland begins June 7, and the 16 qualifiers are making their final adjustments.

Three-time champion Germany fell behind in the 19th minute on a goal by Bosko Jankovic in Gelsenkirchen against a defensive Serbian team that failed to qualify for the Euros.

In the 74th minute, 35-year-old substitute Oliver Neuville tied it four minutes after entering. Ballack, playing well of late for Champions League runner-up Chelsea, the produced the winner.

"He drives the entire team, he goads them on and he is in a very good physical shape," Germany coach Joachim Loew said of his captain.

Germany is in the same group as Croatia, Poland and co-host Austria. Loew's team starts against Poland.

Joao Moutinho (13th minute) and Simao Sabrosa (44th-minute penalty kick) scored for Portugal. Ronaldo, who has scored 42 league and cup goals for Champions League and Premier League winner Manchester United, was contained until his free kick was pushed onto the bar by the Georgian goalkeeper.

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari made nine changes after the halftime break. His team faces Turkey in Geneva in its first group match at the Euros and then meets the Czech Republic and co-host Switzerland.

"I'm happy, especially with the way we played in the first half," Scolari said. "And we can learn some things from the second half."

Romania is in the toughest of the four groups, facing former champions France, the Netherlands and Italy. Its first game is against the French in Zurich June 9.

Adrian Mutu gave the Romanians a 15th-minute lead and Sorin Ghionea scored the second goal in the 49th with a header. Dica scored in the 55th and 69th minutes in Bucharest.
