Austria, which is hosting the European Football Championship from 7 to 29 June, is together with Switzerland reintroducing border controls at internal borders, at all border crossing points (along the land, water and air borders). This means that during that period borders can only be crossed at border crossing points.

The controls shall be flexible in time and location and carried out in such a way that the general holiday traffic will be least affected.

However, travellers to and/or via Austria are requested to take this fact into consideration when making their travel plans.

Independently of this reintroduction of border controls – it continues to be obligatory to carry the appropriate travel documents.
