The weekly sports Gol wants Czech Pavel Nedved (35 years) back in the selection for EURO 2008. The magazine has launched an appeal to that effect in its latest issue.
"Nedved gave the tempo at Juventus. Regularly It gets high marks and mark important goals," says Gol. "The selection Czech can ill afford to lose the services of such a player?" Asks the newspaper.
Nedved has put an end to his international career on Aug. 16, 2006, during the friendly match between the Czech Republic and Serbia. To justify its decision, including Nedved had invoked his age and family reasons. He played in 91 meetings with its selection, registering 18 goals.
During the Euro 2008, the Czech Republic will have as adversaries in Group A Switzerland (June 7 in Basel in the opening match), Portugal (June 11 in Geneva) and Turkey (June 15 in Geneva ).
