Romania midfielder Ovidiu Petre is injured and will miss the European Championship finals in Austria and Switzerland next month, the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) said on Monday.
The FRF's official site (www.frf.ro) said a last-minute medical check showed the Steaua Bucharest player had suffered right knee ligament damage during a short holiday in Turkey.
Coach Victor Piturca, who named a provisional 26-player squad earlier this month, might call up another midfielder to replace Petre, one of his key players in the qualifiers.
