The City of Geneva opened Monday of access points with free wireless internet, powered by solar energy and whose primary beneficiaries are the visitors expected for the Euro 2008 football.
The municipality has decided to test the technology for solar power installations wifi on a large square of downtown will be installed where the main viewing area and shows Geneva at the European competition.
Three wireless access points on the plain of Plainpalais are mounted on light poles at a height of 8 to 10 metres above the ground.
Since spring 2007, the City of Geneva has been put into service a hundred access points and wireless public free of charge.
