Surely an event like the Euro 2008 generates expectation of the security forces, around suspected terrorist attacks.
The Swiss police have expressed great concern over a series of threats that have been published in various spaces jihadists on the Internet, which openly speaks of attacks on the organization's tournament Picks Old Continent, but also the authorities accepted that no such manifestations constitutes a real threat.
Juerg Buehler, official spokesman of the Swiss police, told the newspaper "La Liberte" that the tournament "has been cited by Islamist websites terrorists and we are closely following all these sites to be alert to any signs."
Buehler recalled that such threats also emerged prior to the Fifa World Cup in Germany in 2006. He noted that some of those attacks were actually planned, but were discarded by the perpetrators by the strong security that existed in the country hosting the World Cup.
"We are prepared for any eventuality," said Buehler.
The newspaper "La Liberte" also noted that demonstrations have occurred in pages that are regularly monitored by members of Al-Qaeda and other Islamic groups.
Switzerland has been accused in the world of Islam, if a country "Islamophobic", for the construction of divisions between Islamic migrants and the rest of the population in some Swiss cities.
