'I can't risk staying one more season with the situation I've had this year'
The Sweden goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson wants to leave Manchester City after claiming he is unhappy with being relegated to the bench. Isaksson has been unable to displace Joe Hart this season, raising doubts about his starting spot for Sweden at Euro 2008 next month.
"It feels like I'm done here now," said Isaksson. "I can't risk staying one more season with the same situation I've had this year. So a move is necessary for me."
Isaksson admitted he was disappointed when the City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson said he was not the first-choice goalkeeper. "Of course it's tough when you get that message, but I have been professional the whole time," he told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
The lack of action at City has raised questions about whether Isaksson will be fit for Euro 2008. But a lack of strong alternatives means Isaksson is likely to remain in the starting line-up. "Of course there are question marks when you don't play, I can't deny that," Isaksson said.
