The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is suing people for selling on legally obtained tickets for the Euro 2008 championships, Swiss radio reported Saturday.

Hundreds of people had already had fines imposed on them, UEFA representative in Switzerland Pascale Voegeli told Swiss radio station, DRS.

Selling on legally obtained Euro 2008 tickets was a violation of UEFA's conditions of use, she said.

UEFA was carrying out random checks on the internet, Voegeli said.

Tickets that were being sold on would be cancelled and the person offering them fined, she said.

Voegeli said that the majority of tickets being offered on the internet were forgeries.

The majority of tickets offered for sale on the internet were already there before UEFA started selling the official tickets, she said.
