2,000 tickets for the Austrian officials

( tsr.ch )

While the Austrians will be limited to 21,000 tickets for the Euro-2008 (Switzerland and Austria from 7 to June 29), compared with more than 645,000 ordered from the federation, their officials have approximately 2,000 seats, free and paid, said Österreich the newspaper on Saturday.

With more than 380 places called protocol to be mainly distributed to guests at the state competition, the Austrian Chancellery has purchased 1700 seats to the UEFA it is trying to sell including deputies, reveals the popular daily.

The five parliamentary groups were offered each paying 64 seats (between 200 and 500).

In Austria, only the party of the extreme-right Freedom Party, usually opposed to any privilege, has accepted the offer for its 21 deputies.

A spokesman for the Freedom Party said Friday that MPs' pay from their own pockets and that the taxpayer will not be called upon not. "

However, the leader of the other party of the extreme right BZÖ Peter Westenthaler considered "intolerable that supporters can take places at the same time elected officials have this kind of advantage."

Curator of Social Democrats and environmentalists have also declined an offer by the Chancellery.

The director of the Christian Schmölzer tournament, interviewed by Österreich, does not believe, however, that these tickets were to remain on the arm. "The authorities have always said that they had not enough places available," he says.

If necessary "we sell to people on the waiting list," says Schmölzer in Österreich.

33% of the 1,050,000 tickets available for the Euro were sold directly on the Internet. 38% are allocated to participating national associations, 14% to the various sponsors and the balance is reserved for especially invited to the family of football, UEFA and cities organizers.
