Luis Figo has rejected the extraordinary rumour that he is set to sign for QPR next season, and he also reveals that he will not be coming out of international retirement to play at Euro 2008.

The Mail on Sunday claimed that English Championship side QPR's billionaire owners Flavio Briatore, Bernie Ecclestone and Lakshmi Mittal were using all their wealth and influence to try to convince the 35-year-old to make the switch to Loftus Road in order to help guide them to the Premier League next season. 

The paper alleged that talks had already been ongoing for a few weeks, and even went as far to say that only minor details needed to be settled to complete the sensational deal.

Figo however will no doubt have broken the hearts of many romantics by rubbishing this report.

"I am surprised by these stories," the legend, whose contract at Inter expires in the summer, told the Lusa news agency.

"It is not true that I am negotiating my arrival in England, as has been published in the press."

Figo also went on to say that he will not be coming out of international retirement to play for Portugal at Euro 2008.  

There have been reports that Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has been trying to persuade the winger to make a return.

"I have decided on my exit at this time and I will not change my decision," Figo explained.

"Those talks [with Scolari] are private and not of interest to the public.
