The middle Czech Vladimir Smicer, away from the selection due to injuries, will be the principal consultant for television broadcasts by the Czech Euro 2008 football (June 7-29, Austria and Switzerland), announced Friday Prague channel Prima.
"Vladimir Smicer will be our main face," told the press the boss at the same private channel, Marek Singer.
Smicer, who will be 35 years old on May 24, a total of 81 matches and 27 goals in the jersey of the national team. He participated in the last three European Championships (1996, 2000, 2004).
After a dozen seasons in France championships (Lens, Bordeaux) and England (Liverpool), he returned in the summer of 2007 Slavia Prague (1st div. Czech), the club of origin. It could not be aligned very sporadically, because of recurring injuries.
Prima has bought television broadcasting rights of Euro-2008 for a sum of around 100 million crowns (about 4 million euros), according to the local press.
The Czechs face in the first round (Group A) Switzerland (June 7 in Basel in the opening match), Portugal (June 11 in Geneva) and Turkey (June 15 in Geneva).
