Manchester United front man Wayne Rooney says that even winning the Champions League won't make up for his disappointment at missing Euro 2008
England's defeat in the final qualification match at home to Croatia ensured that Russia took the second group spot and joined the Croats in this summer's finals.
All this means that England will miss their first major finals since 1994 World Cup in the USA.
Rooney is enjoying another great season at club level, as United battle for trophies on three fronts, but regardless of how well the Red Devils do he admits he'll be feeling down Euro 2008 kicks off in June.
"Even if we won the Champions League, it would still be disappointing watching the European Championship on TV," said the striker. "That still burns inside. Just to get to the Euros would have been great."
Rooney shot to international prominence with his performances for England during Euro 2004 in Portugal.
