Polish football fans may count on a higher quota for tickets for three Poland team games at the Euro2008 championships in Switzerland and Austria this summer.
The Sports Minister Miroslaw Drzewiecki has told a Polish private radio station Dla Ciebie that every avenue should be followed to ensure that more tickets for Euro2008 are available to Polish football lovers.
Drzewiecki has said that Chairman of the Polish Football Association (PZPN), Michal Listkiewicz has travelled to the UEFA headquarters in Geneva to discuss the issue of higher tickets quota for Poland.
Earlier, the Polish Football Association decided that only 7,000 tickets for the football championship in Austria and Switzerland would be available to Poles. The number constitutes only 36 per cent of the total number of tickets granted to PZPN by UEFA. The majority was intended for distribution among sponsors and football clubs.
Polish football fans who want to see the Poland team games live at Euro2008, can only purchase the tickets on the Internet by March 9th.
This is the first time Poland has qualified for the European Foorball Championships in its history
