Geneva is the second most populous city in Switzerland, Zurich being the first, and is the most populous city of Romandy (the French-speaking part of Switzerland). Geneva is situated where Lake Geneva flows into the Rhone River, and it is the capital of the Canton of Geneva. The population within the city is 185,526 and that of the metropolitan area is about 700,000. Geneva is widely regarded as a global city, mainly due to the presence of numerous international organisations, including the European headquarters of the United Nations.
Also known as a great watch making city, the Flower Clock is a beautiful work for floral art. The colors of the clock and the plants that are involved vary by season. This clock was created in 1955 and is a true symbol of the world renowned watches that come from Geneva.
Geneva will host 3 matches of the UEFA EURO 2008. They will take place at the Stade de Geneve, a great venue that in additional to the field has a hotel, TV studios, office and conference facilities and a cultural center.

Sights of Geneva
A walk around the Geneva’s lakefrontGeneva's lakefront is one of the city's greatest assets. The familiar Jet d'eau (water fountain) spouts a column of lake water as high as 450 feet in the air, and on a clear day you can see the Mont-Blanc.
Saint Peter's Cathedral
One hundred fifty seven steps lead to the summit of the cathedral's north tower and to a fabulous panorama overlooking the city and the lake. You will also be charmed by the Clémence, the queen of the bells, weighing over 6 tons and hoisted to this very tower in 1407.
United Nation Building
Constructed between 1929 and 1936 to house the League of Nations, the Palais des Nations became the headquarters of the United Nations in 1946 when the former organisation was dissolved. The vast wooded park overlooking the lake, where it is located, was donated by the City of Geneva. Today, and after the completion of a new wing in 1973, it is the second most important centre of the United Nations after New York.
